Smiling ear to ear!

This week, was by far an awesome week for me.  I’m a hairstylist for weddings because it takes my breath away to be a part of the morning of, for each and every one of my brides. This week was so amazing, because i received multiple pictures from my recent brides.  The personality of each and every one of my brides comes through in the pictures, and to see my work along with the stunning bride and groom in a picture absolutely gives me the goose bumps.  I can’t even put into words how it makes me feel, knowing I was apart of that morning and a part of making my brides feel beautiful on the day of their wedding. ” these are the moments I live for!”

Photo Shoot at the Sands Point Preserve Hempstead House

A preview from our Bridal Couture photo shoot at the Sands Point Preserve, Hempstead House in Port Washington.

So excited to see the final work of Photographer Denis Leon of Denisimo Photography, and videographer Matt Serino from the Rebel Lens Productions.  Make up artist Erika Jansen and Hairstylist Lauren DeCosimo (myself), had a blast working with all of you. Lets not forget about our  infamous models, who gave us many incredible photos, Jen Feldman, Lana Abreu, Danielle Owczarek and Toni Anne DeCosimo.   Thank You Everyone

PS If your looking for a place to get married, I highly recommend the Hempstead House in Port Washington, the scenery was breathe taking and the house itself reminded me of a 1920’s mystery movie.

How to Overcome Failure

Life is full of obstacles.  You either challenge yourself or fall on your face.  I have been faced with many obstacles the last year of my life, and still I pick my head up and try again. I try harder or I try something different.   This article motivated me to keep stepping outside my comfort zone.  If you want to be successful, don’t let anything get in your way. “Embrace failure for the wisdom it can provide and let it empower you.  The true meaning of being FearLESS is being able to look failure in the eye and not blink.”

Read this article you will be motivated too.  Thanks Heather Schuck (Glamalife)

Chemicals: Watch out!

Experts suggest that certain chemicals in hair products can cause headaches, nausea, fatigue and even cancer. Quite startling, since hair products are such a regular part of our daily personal care. Today, Dr. Nipun Jain, Senior Consultant in Dermatology from Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Delhi lists out the chemicals to avoid in hair products. So the next time you head to the store, check the label. If you find the following chemicals, we advise you to choose a safer product.

Isopropyl alcohol
 – Isopropyl alcohol is a solvent found in hair colour rinses and some lotions. Inhaling this chemical might lead to headaches, dizziness and nausea.

Propylene glycol
– A wetting agent, it is used as a base in shampoos and hair conditioners. Since it penetrates the skin easily, it can take away the skin’s protein causing it to sag.

Polyethylene glycol
 – Used in a number of personal care and cleaning products, polyethylene glycol is a petroleum product. Regular use of products that contain this chemical may cause the skin to age pre-maturely.

Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) & Sodium laureth sulphate(SLES)
 – Both sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate are possibly the most dangerous of all ingredients in personal care products. Mostly used in hair conditioners, they hamper the quality of hair and restrict their growth; thus, leading to hair loss. SLS can also lead to cataracts when absorbed in the skin even when there is no direct contact with the eyes.

DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (momoethanolamine) TEA (triethanolamine)
 – These agents are used in shampoos and are said to form cancer causing agents.

FD & C Colour pigments
 – Many shampoos and conditioners contain artificial and synthetic colours so that they can be made to look more appealing. These colours used in hair dyes cause the skin to become sensitive and cause irritation and nerve problems. Some of these colours contain contain coal tar which is carcinogenic. Absorbing some of these colours can also lead to decreased levels of oxygen in the body.

Formaldehyde
 – This chemical is used in shampoos and hair conditioners that readily enter the skin causing allergies, headaches and fatigue. It is also known to weaken the immune system.

Unbelievable, but these are true facts that should be taken seriously. Stay chemical free and be happy.
